This little beauty was inspired by one of Ros Happs' gorgeous mini banksias that is planted in the top garden near the cellar door. I have watched it flower over several years, and fell in love with the tiny, bright orange and soft yellow flowers that grow in an upright way all over the bush.
I started this painting, as I otten do with deep, dark tones, wanting to capture the depth of the image. I then worked forward with lighter colours, finishing lastly with white to create highlights and reflections.
