Castle Rock
Castle Rock- Original Acrylic on Canvas
Little Meelup we always called it when we were kids, but the bay this magnificent granite rock overlooks is now known as Castle Bay, located in the beautiful Meelup Regional Park, Dunsborough, WA.
As children we would race to the top of Castle Rock and many a sunrise has been welcomed sitting on this rock looking out across Geographe Bay. I caught this particular view not long after the 2023 wildfire that tore through this end of the park. When the Calothamnus (one sided bottlebrush, that is endemic to this area alone) revegetates, it comes back as the most luminous lime green. Slowly, as the needles age they deepen again in colour. It is one of my favourite places to lay in the sun and paddle in cystaline waters.
