My Garden Grevillea

My Garden Grevillea - Original Acrylic on Canvas
 
I have always loved this Peaches and Cream grevillea in my native front garden. It flowers almost all year round, and merges seamlessly with a large white Moonlight grevillea that towers over it. I was compelled to paint this flower to capture the rainbow like colours it displayed and the complexity of each individual flower.
 
I started this painting with a dark, dark background and slowly, layer upon layer, wove my way towards the light.
